As the weather gets colder please change the clothing in your child’s bag and remember we do try to get outside everyday so appropriate outerwear is recommended. Also, familiarize yourself with the school closing procedure due to inclement weather.

We will be focusing on all things winter this month. We will also begin our Family Mondays starting this month. For the last 15 minutes of class on Mondays we invite you to come in the classroom and share a hobby/talent, talk about your occupation or read a story to the class. A sign-up sheet will be posted for this as well.

Looking forward to catching up at conferences!

There will be no Show and Tell in December.

We wish you a very Happy Holiday and thank you for sharing your children with us!

November 2011

WOW! October was a busy month in room 6. The children enjoyed everything Halloween and it was so much fun to experience this time with them. Thank you to everyone for joining us for Open House, the Halloween Parade and contributing items to our celebration.

November will also be busy in our room with Thanksgiving festivities. We will be learning about families, foods and everything related to the holiday.

Upcoming Dates:
Nov. 7th No School
Nov. 16th Chapel @ 9:30 (feel free to join us)
Nov. 21st Thanksgiving Celebration
Nov. 23rd & Nov. 25th No School
Nov. 30th Tiny Tots Concert

Thanksgiving Celebration- Instead of the traditional turkey dinner, we are asking each family to bring a favorite dish to share with the class. There are no allergies in our room so anything goes..salads, appetizers, desserts, cultural dishes etc! Look for a sign-up sheet by our door soon.

Tiny Tots- We will be going to Woodson High School for this annual holiday tradition. We will need 4 (and only 4) drivers/chaperones. Please let us know if you are interested and we will get you the necessary information.

Thank you for your continued support ordering scholastic books! Our class has acquired many new books and cd’s through your orders.

To Go Bags and Library Check-Out seem to be going well from our end. The kids look forward to getting their bags and we enjoy what they bring back to us. They verbally explain what they did with the bags so we are creating conversations, sharing and learning how to ask questions.

We have started a Nursery Rhyme unit that will continue through the end of the year. Little Miss Muffet was explored in October. They should be able to share this with you as well as many songs we sing in the classroom and in group music.

Enjoy this month with family and friends. We wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

October 2011

We have made a wonderful and smooth transition into preschool. The children are learning the classroom rules and playing well together!

In October we will be learning about all things Halloween, fall, squirrels and the colors orange and black.

Upcoming Dates:
Oct 10th No School
Oct 21st Class Photos
Oct 24th Open House 7-7:30pm
Oct 26th Chapel @ 9:30
Oct 31st Halloween Parade

We will be sending home more information about these events soon!

Please try to use Kiss and Ride. It is a great way to teach independence and most of the children are ready!

Thank you for all of the classroom donations and book orders. We appreciate everything we have already received.

Library Books- they have been going home on Wednesdays. Your child has picked a book of choice to take home. We encourage you to read to your child especially when it is a book of their choice!

To Go Bags- these will be going home next week (Monday). We have a multitude of BAGS we send home offering many exciting adventures for you and your child. Some bags are more time consuming than others and some are self-directed while others will need adult supervision/assistance. We’d like the bags returned on Wednesday if possible…if not Friday is fine. Although the children love receiving their bags, this is not mandatory. Each bag contains directions and we enjoy and appreciate creativity from the child!

Remember the weather is changing so please check their bags to make sure they have appropriate “extra” clothing for spills or accidents.

Show and Tell- we will start in October! Look for the calendar soon. We won’t have a particular theme but as a reminder no weapons, action figures or fragile items.

Snacks- so far so good!

Please check the daily folder on a regular basis. We will be sending home another folder at the end of each month with all of their art work.

We are enjoying your children and hope preschool is as fun for them as it is to us! Please feel free to contact us with questions or concerns at any time!

Welcome to Room 6

Please come join us on Monday, August 29th from 10:00-11:00 to meet your teachers and classmates. It would be helpful to the office if you bring in any forms that are still due. Also, we would like to have a picture of your child to put up in the room to help everyone remember names and faces for the first couple of weeks.

We are excited to see everyone and we look forward to a fun and exciting year of preschool!
